How to convert HEIC to JPG
- Drop your HEIC photos into the box above, or click it to choose them.
- Pick JPG (best for sharing), PNG (lossless) or WebP (smallest).
- Download each photo, or click Download all for a ZIP file.
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the photo format iPhones and iPads have used since iOS 11. It stores photos at about half the size of a JPG with the same quality. The downside: Windows, Android, many websites and older software can't open HEIC files. Converting to JPG makes your photos work everywhere.
Private by design
Most HEIC converters upload your photos to their servers. This one doesn't: the conversion runs in your browser using libheif, the same open-source decoder used by many photo apps. Your personal photos stay on your device.
Tips
- Stop your iPhone from saving HEIC: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible.
- Sharing from iPhone: AirDrop and email often convert to JPG automatically; files copied over USB or iCloud for Windows stay HEIC.
- Need a PDF? Use our JPG to PDF tool — it accepts HEIC photos too.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
Is converting HEIC to JPG lossy?
JPG is a compressed format, but at the default quality (90) the difference is invisible. Choose PNG if you need a lossless copy.
Does it keep the right orientation?
Yes. The photo is rotated according to its orientation tag, so it looks the same as on your iPhone.
Can I convert many photos at once?
Yes, up to 50 at a time. Use Download all to get them in one ZIP file.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers.
