How to convert MOV to MP4
- Drop your MOV files into the box. Conversion starts right away.
- Watch the progress in the list; you can add more videos while it works.
- Download the MP4 files, or all of them at once as a ZIP.
Lossless when possible
Many MOV files already contain H.264 video and AAC audio — the same codecs MP4 uses. In that case the video is simply re-packaged into an MP4 container: no quality loss, and it takes seconds even for long clips. Videos in HEVC (H.265), which newer iPhones record by default, are converted to H.264 so they play everywhere, including older Windows PCs, Android phones and smart TVs.
Why convert MOV to MP4?
- Windows, Android and many TVs can't play iPhone MOV/HEVC videos without extra codecs.
- Upload forms, video editors and social networks often only accept MP4.
- MP4 is the most compatible video format there is.

Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser using its built-in video encoder. Your videos never leave your device.
Does converting MOV to MP4 lose quality?
Not when the MOV already contains H.264 — then it is only re-packaged. HEVC videos are re-encoded at high quality.
Which browsers work?
Recent Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox. iPhone HEVC videos need a browser that can decode HEVC, such as Safari, or Chrome and Edge on most computers.
Why is my MP4 bigger than the MOV?
iPhone videos use HEVC, which compresses better than the H.264 that every device can play. If you want a smaller file too, use our video compressor.
Is there a size limit?
Up to 2 GB per file. Long 4K videos need a lot of memory, so close other tabs if a conversion fails.
