How to trim a video
- Drop your video into the box (MP4, MOV from an iPhone, WebM or MKV).
- Drag the two handles to where the video should start and end — or play the video and click Use current time. You can also type exact times like
1:05.5. - Click ▶ Play selection to check, then ✂ Cut video.
- Preview the result and download the MP4.
Fast or precise?
- Fast (default) copies the video data as it is: no quality loss and done in seconds, even for long videos. Video is stored in groups of frames that start with a key frame, so the cut snaps to the key frame just before your start point — usually within a second or two. Your end point is exact enough for almost every use.
- Precise re-encodes the video so the cut lands on the exact frame you chose. Use it when every frame counts, for example to cut a clip on a beat. It takes longer and re-compresses the video at high quality.
Good for
- Cutting the dead time off the start and end of a phone or screen recording.
- Getting a video under a length limit — WhatsApp status (30 s), Instagram Stories (60 s) or a short for YouTube.
- Saving just one moment from a long recording, like a meeting or a lecture.
- Removing the sound at the same time (tick Remove sound).
Next steps: make it smaller with Compress Video, turn the clip into a GIF, or take the sound out with MP4 to MP3.
Which formats work?
Anything your browser can play: MP4 (H.264, HEVC), MOV from iPhones and Macs, WebM and MKV. The result is always an MP4, which plays everywhere. iPhone HEVC videos may need Safari, Edge or Chrome with hardware HEVC support.
Private by design
The video is cut inside your browser with the WebCodecs engine of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. It is never uploaded, so even long or personal videos stay on your device.
Frequently asked questions
Does trimming reduce video quality?
Not in Fast mode: the video data is copied as it is. Precise mode re-encodes at high quality to cut on the exact frame.
Why does my clip start a little earlier than I chose?
Fast mode cuts at the key frame just before your start point to avoid re-encoding. Choose Precise for a frame-exact start.
Is there a watermark or length limit?
No watermark and no fixed limit; very long videos are only limited by your device’s memory.
Can I trim an iPhone video?
Yes. MOV files from iPhones work; the result is an MP4.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is cut in your browser and never leaves your device.
