How to convert HEIC to WebP
- Drop your iPhone photos (.heic or .heif) into the box.
- WebP is already selected. Quality 80–85 suits most web pages.
- Download the WebP files or all of them as a .zip.
Why go from HEIC straight to WebP?
HEIC is great on your iPhone but browsers other than Safari cannot show it, and most website builders reject it. The usual route — HEIC to JPG, then JPG to WebP — compresses the photo twice. Converting directly from the original HEIC skips one lossy step, so you get a cleaner image at the same file size.
Good for
- Blogs and WordPress sites — upload phone photos that load fast.
- Online shops — product photos taken with an iPhone, ready for Shopify or WooCommerce.
- Portfolios and listings — real-estate, travel and food photos.
Make them even lighter
An iPhone photo is 4032 × 3024 pixels — far bigger than any web page shows. Convert first, then use Resize Image to bring them to 1600–2000 pixels wide; together that often turns a multi-megabyte photo into a few hundred KB. Need files for email or Windows instead? Use HEIC to JPG.
Private by design
The HEIC decoder (libheif, WebAssembly) and the WebP encoder both run in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert HEIC directly to WebP?
Yes. The photo is decoded from the original HEIC and saved as WebP in one step, without an intermediate JPG.
How big will the WebP files be?
Usually clearly smaller than the same photo as JPG, and only a few hundred KB once resized to web size.
Does it work on Windows and Android?
Yes. The HEIC decoder is built into the page, so no extensions or apps are needed.
Can I convert many photos at once?
Yes, up to 50 photos, downloaded together as a .zip.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens on your own device.
